Review: http://weblogs.about.com/cs/bloghost/gr/blogger.htm
Pros:
- Free!
- Easy - setup in no time, decent interface, nice features.
- Multiple templates
Cons:
- No categories! (this is, IMHO, a huge shortcoming)
- Template customizing requires fiddling with HTML and CSS
- Some downtime
- Slow publish times
- Really needs some (free) third-party utils for complete functionality (e.g. feedburner)
Owned now by google, blogger.com was my first introduction to blogging - free and easy, I started my first blog in October 2001. All politics all the time. :)
As far as quick and easy goes, blogger wins. It's a very complete multi-author bloggin platform with excellent integrated features.
For actual use, you'll want to check out:
- statcounter.com
- free (limited log) hit and stat tracking package
- feedburner.com
- create an RSS feed and track subscribers
