Walker After Hours
Every few months the Walker hosts a party called Walker After Hours, where we set up a photobooth we created. Photos from the booth are displayed in the museum and automatically uploaded to Flickr. The photos on flickr get automatically added to the group and we advertise the URL during the party and tell people to add their own photos to the pool. We also promote the activities on our blog, hopefully giving us some more views.
Brooklyn Museum
Extensive visitor-created documentation from current programming in the museum on their flickr account. They also pull all photos tagged "wwwbrooklynmuseumorg" and display them on the community section of the Brooklyn Museum website. For their Graffiti Exhibition, they encouraged participants to take photos of graffitti and post them, which became part of the exhibition. Given the abundance of graffitti in NYC, this was capitilizing on an excellent opportunity.
The American Image: The Photographs of John Collier Jr.
Working with the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology, Ideum created a flickr account for John Collier Jr. and essentially used it as a database for the exhibition website. This allows the photos to be accessible both through flickr and through the Museum's site. Flickr AP Is? are used for this, as well as for allowing visitors to compare current photography to Collier's photographs. Jim of Ideum also blogged about this site and the concept of interestingness.
